High Performance Data Acquisition PCI

  • 24 bit sigma-delta A/D converter (Analog Devices AD7710 converter chip).
  • Built in multiplexer: 16 single-ended or 8 differential A/D channels
  • Resolution 7.5 digits (exact unscaled reading range from 0 to 16777215). Even in the 2.5V range resolution is better than 1uV!
  • Sum sampling rates 10Hz to 1000Hz.
  • Ranges available +/-2.5V to 20mV (!).
  • Accuracy +/-0.2% (2.5V range).
  • All functions software selectable.
  • Automatic software calibration feature make unit "potfree". Background calibration mode for automatic removal of temperature drift effects. The remaining drift is 10ppm/K
  • Low power consumption: 100mW (5V,20mA) typ.
  • 8 digital I/O lines with pull up / pull down resistors. Open drain mode sinks up to 4mA. All digital inputs are protected to +/-25V relative to cards ground.
  • Sensor excitation currents: 100nA and 0.02mA available
  • Reference voltage (2.5V) and +5V/200mA, -5V/5mA for power supply of external devices available
  • Custom C++ drivers for SCO UNIX, Solaris, HP-UX, OSF/1, pSOS, OS9, LynxOS etc. on request.

Features

The DAQ pci218 PCI board has a 24 bit sigma-delta A/D converter chip and a built in multiplexer with 16 single-ended or 8 differential analogue input channels with sum sampling rates from 10Hz to 1000Hz. Also included is a digital I/O port. 8 lines can be used for input or output. A built-in 16 bit counter, used for impulse counting or frequency measurement up to 6MHz, completes the design.

The card works with Microsoft® Windows® 95/98/ME, Windows NT® and Windows® 2000 operating systems.

Applications

The DAQ pci218 PCI bus card can be used in many environments for automation of machines and process monitoring and control, instrumentation and electronic test functions.

The multichannel analog inputs can be used for voltage measurement, temperature measurement (Thermocouple), curve printing and data logging. The 8 digital I/O lines can be ued for machine and process control,switching external devices such as solid-state-relays or reading the status of external digital logic.

A single PCI card replaces a DVM application: DVM with an accuracy of 4 1/2 digits, a 16 channel scanner/multiplexer and a IEEE488 interface card.

Self Calibration

The analog inputs of the DAQ pci218 have self calibration circuitry built into the A/D converter to correct gain and offset errors. You can calibrate out additional analog I/O errors caused by time and temperature drift at runtime through software to accommodate changing environmental conditions. No external circuitry is necessary. The internal reference ensures high accuracy and stability over time and temperature.
