Description

The SM2020 is a 5-1/2 digit DMM that plugs into any full length PC ISA bus slot. It has all the functionality and performance of a bench top instrument. The SM2020CT version adds frequency counting, external triggering and a programmable level trigger.

The PC plug in design provides the convenience of automated measurement cost effectively in the smallest possible footprint with no compromise in performance. There is no dealing with unnecessary interconnecting or power cables. Signal leads go straight from the SM2020 in your PC to the device under test or scanner. It couldn't be more straight forward.

The front panel for the SM2020 appears on your PC monitor. All of the familiar DMM controls are available on this virtual front panel in either DOS or Windows. You can control the SM2020 without any programming or configuration using your mouse to manipulate the virtual front panel controls straight out of the box.

Automated applications can be configured using TestPoint, ATEasy, Matlab, Visual Basic or C. To get you started, source code for the virtual front panel (written in Visual Basic) is provided with your SM2020.

The SM2020 is controlled with high level commands to its on-board controller. The controller both simplifies programming and minimizes overhead on the PC. This architecture also insures that the SM2020 will operate well with all operating systems even those with slower real time response.

For safety and accuracy the SM2020 has a 300V isolation barrier from the PC. The rugged input protection is virtually indestructible. Accuracy is maintained with state of the art, precision components.

The SM2020(-CT) is supplied with software drivers to support development environments such as: Microsoft Visual C++, Borland C, ATEasy, Microsoft Visual Basic, Borland Pascal, Borland Delphi, and more. A virtual panel is provided for standalone applications and debug mode.

  • 32-bit MS-Windows DLL - to be used with a WIN32 application running under Windows 95 and Windows NT.
  • 16-bit MS-Windows DLL (Dynamic Link Library) - to be used with a 16-bit Windows application running under Windows 3.1.
  • DOS static libraries - Microsoft format and Borland format - used by DOS applications compiled with Microsoft or Borland development tools.

Connections to the SM2020 and the SM2020-CT are made using 4 banana jacks (not included). A mini-phone jack is used for the trigger input of the SM2020-CT (Counter/Trigger option).
