Description

* The Handyscope HS4 is the successor of the popular Handyscope HS3. Built for customers that want to extend their measuring capabilities even further, this powerful computer controlled measuring instrument now features four input channels. The HS4 has just like it's predecessor the four main measuring instruments: a Multimeter, an Oscilloscope, a Spectrum analyzer and a Transient recorder.

* The Handyscope HS4 features a user selectable 12 bit, 14 bit or 16 bit resolution (14 bit effective, SNR 95 dB), 200 mV - 80 V full scale input range, 128 Ksamples record length per channel and a sampling frequency up to 5 MHz on all four channels.

* The AWG is not included in the Handyscope HS4. Therefore, the HS4 is the ideal pc based measuring instrument for customers that want a high number of inputs and yet do not need a signal generator.

* Connected to the fast USB 2.0 interface, the Handyscope HS4 doesn't require an external power supply, once again fully supporting the "Plug in and measure" motto of TiePie engineering.

Key specifications for the oscilloscope are:

* record length is 131060 samples
* 128K samples on screen without loss of information
* free settable pre trigger position, from 0 to 100%
* easy time axis zoom using unique scaleable sroll bar slider
* free adjustable sample frequency
* vertical offset and gain adjustable with graphical shiftable and scaleable axis
* WYSIWYG trigger level, slope and hysteresis adjustment using combined trigger control
* Auto setup to reduce setting time with unknown signals
* linear/quadratical interpolation
* extended cursor measurements
* all settings accessable through popup menus
* storing and recalling reference signals
* software math channel available
* easy to use speedbutton toolbar for easy access of all functions
* comment tags to mark specific events in the signal
* color hardcopy supported
* explanatory comments with all controls
* envelope mode
* averaging of signals

Key specifications of the voltmeter are:

* up to six fully configurable displays
* a bar graph with each display for a quick signal size overview
* each display provides for 11 different mathematical operations on the measured data

* disk or printer logging with an adjustable interval between the measurements. Measurements logged to disk can be read back into the oscilloscope or transient recorder.
* all settings of the displays are accessible through popup menus, obtained by pressing the right mouse button on top of a display
* simultaneous use with the oscilloscope and/or spectrum analyzer

Key features of the spectrum analyzer are:

* determine a spectrum of up to 16K long records
* simultaneous use with the oscilloscope: you can see the signal both in the time domain and the frequency domain
* intuitive adjustment of the horizontal and vertical offsets and gains using advanced graphical controls
* five different window functions to reduce discontinuity errors in the Fast Fourier Transform
* high precision Discrete Fourier Transform to eliminate discontinuity errors
* linear and logarithmic vertical axes
* frequency axis linear, logarithmic, in octaves and in thirds of octaves
* interpolation to improve graph
* averaging of measurements to reduce the influence of noise
* measuring maximum values
* Total Harmonic Distortion calculation up to 100 harmonics
* Spectrum analyzer controlled frequency sweep on instruments with function generator
* extended cursor measurements
* all settings accessible through popup menus
* storing and recalling reference signals
* easy to use speedbutton toolbar for easy access of all functions
* comment tags to mark specific events in the signal
* colour hardcopy supported
* explanatory comments with all controls

Key Features Of The Transient Recorder:
The transient recorder can sample with sample times between 0.01 sec and 500 sec. The maximum number of samples is 131060 , resulting in a maximum measurement time of almost 758 days.

While measuring, each sample is displayed in one display pixel. When the number of samples is larger than the display width, two different methods can be used to display the next sample: scan mode and roll mode. With scan mode, the screen is cleared and filled again from left to right. With roll mode the trace will shift through the display from right to left.

Apart from the features mentioned above, the transient recorder is quite the same as the oscilloscope:

* 128K samples on screen without loss of information
* easy time axis zoom using scaleable scroll bar slider
* vertical offset and gain adjustable with graphically shiftable and scaleable axis
* a convenient speedbutton tool bar
* extended cursor measurements
* all settings accessible through popup menus
* storing and recalling reference signals
* easy to use speedbutton toolbar for easy access of all functions
* comment tags to mark specific events in the signal
* colour hardcopy supported
* explanatory comments with all controls

The extensive possibilities of the cursors can be used to analyze the measured signal. Besides the standard measurements, also True RMS , Peak-Peak, Mean, Max and Min values of the measured signal are available.

An AUTO DISK function is available which can capture unexpected disturbances. When the instrument is set up for the disturbance, the AUTO DISK function can be started. Each time the disturbance occurs, it is measured and the measured data is stored on disk. When pre samples are selected, both samples before and after the moment of disturbance are stored.

Program / Software Information

The universal software that is delivered with the Handyscope HS4 turns your PC into a storage oscilloscope, a spectrum analyzer, a voltmeter and a transient recorder. An intelligent auto setup allows the inexperienced user to perform measurements immediately. The software allows you to save instrument settings on disk. Later these setting files can be recalled, reducing the setup time of your instrument to an absolute minimum.
