The Handyscope HS5 is the first USB oscilloscope (USB powered) sampling at 50 MHz, with a 14 bits resolution and a 250 MHz bandwidth. This makes it possible to analyze very fast signals with very small amplitudes. The smallest distortions can be revealed due to the high resolution and bandwidth. Because of the deep memory (up to 64 MSamples on one channel), long record measurements are available for intermittent phenomena and Fast Fourier Transform calculations with over 32 million spectral lines can be performed. Using very fast FFT algorithms, an FFT with 1 million spectral lines can be performed within a second.
Through the high integration density of the components used in the Handyscope HS5, the total size of the Handyscope HS5 is limited to 25mm x 170mm x 140mm (1" x 6.7" x 5.2"), making it very suitable for mobile use.
Highest timebase accuracy
The time base of the Handyscope HS5 is created from a very stable TCXO with a deviation under 1 ppm and a yearly aging less than 1 ppm. No other oscilloscope offers this accuracy. Measuring the frequency of a signal can be done very accurately. When a tolerance of 10 ppm is allowed, a recalibration of the time base is only required after 10 years of use.

Assuring a good connection of a probe with a test subject may not always be easy. The subject under measurement may be dirty, oxidized or an (invisible) protective layer may be present. Also, the test subject may be hidden, making visible contact confirmation impossible. As can be seen in a video on our website, capacitive coupling between test probe and test subject can result in measuring a distorted version of the actual signal, wrongly suggesting a connection. SureConnect however immediately shows you whether a good connection is present.
Additionally to the connection test, a Handyscope HS5 with the SureConnect option offers resistance measurements on all channels. No more need to grab your separate ohm meter to check that resistor, your Handyscope HS5 will do the job. You can even create an Ohm scope to check a variable resistance and have a graph showing you the change in resistance. A defective potmeter is easily checked, a damaged track is immediately visible.

Program / Software Information
The universal software that is delivered with the Handyscope HS5 turns your PC into a storage oscilloscope, a spectrum analyzer, a voltmeter and a transient recorder. An intelligent auto setup allows the inexperienced user to perform measurements immediately. The software allows you to save instrument settings on disk. Later these setting files can be recalled, reducing the setup time of your instrument to an absolute minimum.

Perform advanced measurements in a few mouse clicks
When knowledge or experience are insufficient to setup a measurement instrument correctly and quickly, using measurement templates is a must. The TiePie engineering Multi Channel oscilloscope software provides a large amount of ready to use measurement templates. Most measurement templates are designed to allow perfoming an advanced mesurement in just a few mouse clicks.
How does it work?
You select the measurement template from a tree structure and the instrument will be fully set up. For an advanced CAN bus measurement simply select the measurement template (Protocol analyzer -> CAN bus -> 1 (differential) channel -> 250kb/s) and the instrument is ready to measure and decode CAN bus signals. The measurement template can also contain reference signals and comments on how to perform the measurement.
But also setting up the instrument correctly to perform simple measurements can take much time. A simple measurement like e.g. a current measurement using a 600 Ampere current clamp (TP-CC600) can give difficulties in determining and setting the correct conversion factor for the current clamp in the software. When using a measurement template, this is performed quickly and correct all the time.

A machine builder can create his own measurement templates for all test points that are important in a machine. Service engineers can then use these templates to immediately give them all correct settings,
reference measurement signals and an explanation with information on the test point. By using the templates, the instrument becomes a complete information system for the service engineer, enabling him to always use the correct settings for his measurements, together with the right information.
